Concert Cup — A Thrilling Annual Tradition

Since 2015, the Concert Cup has been an annual event that fosters camaraderie and fellowship among competing members from across the U.S. and provides an opportunity to showcase the fine properties within the Concert Collection.

Each year, players from across the country gather at a host club to compete in a multi-day tournament filled with on-course competitions. These all-expenses-paid trips have been a popular tradition since their inception, thanks to the efforts of company leaders like Vice President Christopher Watkins. “It is an incredible experience to see everyone come together. We have made great strides in enhancing these events year-over-year and it’s a pleasure to hear how much fun our members have,” said Watkins.

This year’s Men’s Concert Cup was held in September at Hiwan Golf Club and The Ranch Country Club, both situated near Denver, Colorado. Along with competing in the three-day golf portion of the event, players were treated to the sounds of several local artists and indulged in a variety of themed meals. The golfers also enjoyed a private suite at Coors Field, where they attended a Colorado Rockies game.

Matt Merchant, a longtime member of The Country Club at Woodmore shared, “The hospitality that everyone demonstrated, and the time and effort put forth, did not go unnoticed. It was a remarkably well-run event, start to finish.”

Raj Kapadia, whose team has represented MacGregor Downs and competed in The Men’s Concert Cup two years in a row, noted, “Concert does an amazing job creating a great atmosphere! Hiwan and The Ranch were great courses with extremely welcoming staff. Both were in amazing shape and the scenery was stunning. Every member should know how great this event is and want to qualify every year. Our team will be looking to earn a third straight chance to play, and we’ve already blocked next year’s dates on our calendars.”

Hiwan’s Director of Golf, Kyle Heyen added, “It was a pleasure to add the 2023 Concert Cup to the list of great events we have hosted. The players had three days of perfect fall Colorado weather. Both golf courses were immaculate, and the players enjoyed our Colorado hospitality. At Hiwan, the players were treated and entertained by the herds of elk roaming the links. They were also challenged by the greens that we are known for in the golf world.”

Congratulations to Team Glen Oaks, comprised of Nick Pirotte, Nolan Grimm, Derek Livingston, and Brian Crotty who beat out 28 teams to secure the title and take home the iconic trophy! The gentlemen were accompanied by Don Tracy, Glen Oaks Country Club’s Director of Golf.

Concert Golf Partners leadership was pleased to add a second event, the Ladies’ Concert Cup, in 2021. “For so many years, we saw our members relish the Men’s Concert Cup, and we couldn’t let the ladies miss out on such a great opportunity. It has been a joy to see both events continue to grow,” expressed Susan Dunnavant, Concert Golf’s COO.

The 2023 Ladies’ Concert Cup was contested in August at The Club at Longview, an illustrious property located just outside of Charlotte, North Carolina. The event was a smashing success with players enjoying accommodation at The Ballantyne Resort and being treated to extensive dining options and live entertainment. “The accommodations and amenities were incredible, as well as the golf course and staff,” said Evan Neale, Director of Golf at The Country Club at Woodmore.

Patricia Gafford, who competed in the event on behalf of The Country Club at Woodmore with partner Barbara Christianson, shared her thoughts on the event. “There was a seemingly endless supply of food — from breakfast to lunch and dinner, all held at the amazingly beautiful Longview clubhouse.”

Jana Hofeldt, a representative of The Players Club, partnered with Stephanie Keller during the competition and stated, “We met a lot of people from other clubs and formed lifelong friendships.” The ladies, who love playing new courses, have already been in touch with their newfound friends and are planning to visit them soon!
